His Holiness III Drubwang Pema Norbu "Penor" Rinpoche (1932 - 2009)
His Holiness Penor Rinpoche is the eleventh throne holder of Palyul Lineage, Nyingma tradition - one of the oldest of the four sects of Tibetan Buddhism. From 1993 to August 2001, he was the supreme head of the whole Nyingma sect. He is an emanation of Vajrapani as well as an incarnation of the 8th century Indian Scholar Vimalamitra.
His Holiness is widely revered as one of the foremost spiritual masters of our time. There are many accounts of miraculous activities and auspicious events attributed to His Holiness.
His Holiness is also the founder of the Namdroling Monastery in South India - the largest Nyingma monastery in the world and home to more than 3000 monks and nuns. His three main students (heart sons) are HH Karma Kuchen Rinpoche, HE Khentul Gyangkhang Rinpoche and HE Mugsang Tulku Rinpoche.
